Our puppy class will teach owners how to raise puppies into confident, dogs, address common issues that people experience with puppies. such as crate training, preventing separation anxiety, puppy biting, and proper socialization with people and dogs.
Most of all it is all about investing in your pups for lots of future fun!
This class is intended for dogs who pull on the leash, charge after squirrels, rabbits etc. and dogs who like to jump on people or pull excitedly toward other dogs during walks. In the event of rain or inclement weather, class will be held indoors or cancelled. (Please watch for us to call 1 hour prior to class when the weather is questionable.)
Basic Obedience (6 weeks)
This class is a beginners class, that covers how to teach owners how to teach their dog’s name recognition, sits, downs, stand, leave it, stay, come, watch me and basic heeling, as well as some basic fun tricks like spin or sit pretty. The owners will learn how to teach to the strengths and personality of their dogs.
The main focus of this class is to refine the skills learned in the basic class with bigger distractions, weening cues and giving stronger verbal cues. Students will learn additional handler skills and work toward real life obedience including understanding heeling and handler focus. The class will also introduce agility concepts as well as some tricks.
Advanced class (6 weeks )
Prerequisite: Students who sign up for this class are encouraged to have taken our intermediate class or an equivalent class elsewhere. This class will focus on real life obedience in real life places. Many students find that their dogs do great in class but, it all goes out the window when they go outside, or to a café etc.
Students will learn effective ways to manage and train, including sits, downs, stays, sit politely for greetings, and come with their dogs in high distraction areas. We will meet in different locations every week to provide a variety of environments for training.
